Exhibition Recommendation: “Augen auf!” (Open your Eyes!) 100 Years of Leica Photography

"Augen auf!" (Open your Eyes!) 100 Years of Leica PhotographyExhibition Recommendation: “Augen auf!” (Open your Eyes!) 100 Years of Leica Photography

Until May 31st the exhibition “AUGEN AUF! – 100 Jahre Leica Fotografie” (Open your Eyes! – 100 Years of Leica Photography) will be on display at the  “Fotografie Forum” Frankfurt.

Actually the exhibition is way more extensive than I would have expected and it includes many iconic photographs! The list of photographers who contribute to this exhibition is as impressive as it is long! You can find pictures of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Elliott Erwitt, Sabstião Salgado, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Bruno Barbey, René Burri, Bruce Davidson, William Eggleston, Susan Meiselas, Joel Meyerowitz, Robert Lebeck, Barbara Klemm, Thomas Hoepker and many more. Some of these photos I knew quiet well but I didn’t know who shot them. As one of the probably most often reproduced pictures of our times: Che Guevarra – of course shot with a Leica 😉
Besides the more than 200 photos the exhibition is completed with documentaries: old Leica cameras, magazines newspapers and books about the history of ‘portable photography’ from it’s beginning until today.

My conclusion: Don’t miss it!
