19th Edition of the legendary “El Mundo” Festival – Thorge Berger a presenter!

El Mundo Reise- und Abenteuerfestival 201719th Edition of the legendary “El Mundo” Festival – Thorge Berger a presenter!

The quest for best travel and adventure presentations for the German language area will take place from October 20 to October 21, 2017, for the 19th time.  Judenburg, in the Steiermark region (Austria) will host the cream of the crop. It takes exciting stories, fantastic travel reports or natural experiences and, of course, great photos. A strict condition is, that all entries need to be ‚fresh“, as in recently created, allow an impromptu presentation, and be limited to 30 minutes. The presentations will be evaluated by a jury of high caliber experts. The categories are ‘Overall Performance”, “Best Photography” and “Most Thrilling Adventure”. In addition, a “People’s Choice”-Award will be presented.

The “El Mundo” Festival, first established in 1999, has a longstanding tradition. The festival champions the spirit of authenticity and the off the-beaten track approach – with fresh ways of presentation. The El Mundo-Awards are reserved for presentations that are a cut above the rest, and, nicknamed the “Oscars of Travelogues” (in the German language area), these awards prove a worthwhile goal for many presenters. In recent years, participants from eight countries came to tell their stories in Judenburg in a sold-out venue, and for some, this was the stepping stone for a successful presenter’s career.

Tony Wheeler, legendary Lonely Planet creator, calls EL MUNDO “the best travel event in Austria! It was fun, there were lots of interesting people, these sort of events are always inspirational – they make you want to grab your backpack and head for the road!”

May 15 was the closing date for all entries, and the contestants for the 2017 comp have been selected. And I am one of them!
My “Kumbh Mela” presentation got me through, and I am very excited to be able to participate! I am thrilled to be part of it, and grateful at the same time!
